Transforming Lives Through Therapy

The Therapy Department at Golden Years does more than just make sure our residents are reaching their therapy goals. They care about our residents' well-being and quality of life. Our Occupational Therapist, Jessica Zurborg, went above and beyond for one of her patients, Susan, transforming her life for the better.


Susan has been having a hard time finding a wheelchair that is comfortable and fits her needs to get around. Jessica observed this struggle and sought to figure out a solution for her. Jessica worked hard on getting a brand new, custom electric chair. Susan is now able to get up daily and move around. In her own words, Susan expressed, “This new chair has changed my life.”

"Being able to positively impact the residents' lives will always be a favorite part of my job," expressed Susan. "One reason I love working as an Occupational Therapist at Golden Years is to help find ways to improve the residents' quality of life and promote independence with daily activities. After talking with Susan, I knew we needed to find a power wheelchair that would give her the ability to move around the facility on her own. Along with the help of an amazing wheelchair vendor, we were able to help Susan qualify for her very own power wheelchair." We're thankful for a wonderfully skilled and caring OT like Jessica!
